ARMAPAL – Reinforcement for the construction of asphalt roads
ARMAPAL enables a lasting and cost-effective refurbishment
ARMAPAL is a reinforcement grid made of glass fibres for the reinforcement of asphalt pavement surfaces. Owing to its high tear strength and low elongation at break, tensile stresses are absorbed and spread over the whole surface. Thus reduces the crack propagation and extend resurfacing intervals.
ARMAPAL G, GL and plus – Asphalt reinforcement grid
Special advantages of ARMAPAL plus:
- High installation safety through good bonding of the composite product with the substrate
- Melting installation aid ensures very good layer bonding
ARMAPAL G, GL and plus bring the following advantages as reinforcement element for asphalt pavement in the road and airport construction:- Absorb the tensions arising in the asphalt wearing course and spread them over a larger surface again
- Prevent the formation of reflective cracks
- Improve the dynamic loading capacity and the fatigue behaviour of asphalt layers
- Delay the formation of reflective cracks
- Delay the crack formation over connecting joints in the widening of carriageway and trenches
- Extend the refurbishment intervals up to a factor of 3 – 4 when compared to unreinforced asphalt
- Reduce the refurbishment costs incurred over a long period
- Due to extremely small elongation at break of approximately 2% asphalt layers, which can permit small elongation, are able to absorb tensile stress (in contrary to polymer geogrids or geotextile)
- High-temperature resistant suitable up to 840°C and thus also for the installation in mastic asphalt
- Reinforced surfaces can be milled off later without problem and the milled material can be recycled
- Environmental friendly
